Your Two for Tuesday this week is from R.E.M. Enjoy!
PLAY So. Central RainThis week’s Mary Monday is all about Mary Whitehouse. She’s not all that famous here in the U.S. but those in Britain know her name well as a campaigner for the moral right.

Whitehouse criticised adult entertainment like Goodfellas, the work of Dennis Potter and A Clockwork Orange. She claimed that Doctor Who had nightmare qualities, saying it “Contains some of the sickest, most horrible material” and describing it as “teatime brutality for tots”. Needless to say, we would not have gotten along.
Your Mary song is Mary Long by Deep Purple.
PLAY Mary LongAdded bonus song – Pink Floyd’s Pigs (Three Different Ones)
PLAY Pigs (Three Different Ones)Your Two for Tuesday this week is from Ultravox. The first selection is from John Foxx Ultravox and the second is from Midge Ure Ultravox. Some folks like only one variety of Ultravox – I’m a fan of both. I really wish they were playing in the US during their 2010 reunion tour.
PLAY Hiroshima Mon AmourWelcome to a new year of Mary Mondays. This week’s song is Mary by the Scissor Sisters. Enjoy!
PLAY MaryAnd your famous Mary this week is Mary Kingsley, an English writer and explorer.

According to wikipedia:
Mary Kingsley upset the Church of England when she criticized missionaries for attempting to change the people of Africa. She talked about, and indeed defended, many aspects of African life that had shocked many English people, including polygamy. She was, however, fairly conservative on other issues and did not support the women’s suffrage movement.
