mad things

Yesterday’s Mary song was from Robert Fripp so i thought I’d carry him over to the Two for Tuesday. And like yesterday I included two versions of the same song, today I’m doing the same.

A lot of prog rock fans think Mr Fripp is not very nice to his fans but I can’t agree with that. A long time ago I went to see Mr Fripp give a lecture on his music and electronics. I wanted to get a good seat so I showed up at the venue early. There were three of us sitting by the main door. One guy was playing Fripp’s cd Exposure out loud and we were all listening. The front door opened and out walked Robert Fripp with his guitar. He knelt down and starting playing along with the recording. Needless to say, the three of us were speechless. After the song ended, he got up and went back through the door. Of course we were all excited about what happened. I think at that point it was sealed that Robert Fripp was my musical god.

Granted this was only one interaction with him, and maybe he can be rude to his fans, it’s just a part of him that I have never experienced.
