Enjoy this threesome of birthday songs. And Ms. Summers, I insist that you listen to each one.

The first birthday song to get you started is from Röyskopp.

The second birthday song is from The Birthday Party. I know that Dawn is a Nick Cave fan so she should enjoy this one. ; )

The third birthday song is from Altered Images. Whenever I think of birthday songs, this one always pops into my head, even before The Beatles and Sugarcubes.

I considered using The Smith’s Unhappy Birthday but Dawn would really think that I hate her if I had included it in the threesome.

Carrying on with some more Robert Fripp, here are three from King Crimson. These are best played on the loudest volume that you can endure. Enjoy! (everyone except Dawn Summers who will definitely not like any of these songs.)

A lot of prog rock fans think Mr Fripp is not very nice to his fans but I can’t agree with that. A long time ago I went to see Mr Fripp give a lecture on his music and electronics. I wanted to get a good seat so I showed up at the venue early. There were three of us sitting by the main door. One guy was playing Fripp’s cd Exposure out loud and we were all listening. The front door opened and out walked Robert Fripp with his guitar. He knelt down and starting playing along with the recording. Needless to say, the three of us were speechless. After the song ended, he got up and went back through the door. Of course we were all excited about what happened. I think at that point it was sealed that Robert Fripp was my musical god.

Granted this was only one interaction with him, and maybe he can be rude to his fans, it’s just a part of him that I have never experienced.

Two songs that are on Exposure also appear on two Peter Gabriel cds. I’ve included the Gabriel version of Exposure as well as the Fripp and Gabriel versions of Here Comes the Flood. Enjoy!
